CPR FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I pre-register for a class?

A: No. Unfortunately, we do not allow for pre-registering for classes before registration opens for everyone. Registration is held on a first come-first served basis. It is not fair to those that register when the class opens if others were given preference to register ahead of time.

Q: I see that your class is full. Can you put me in the class anyway?

A: No. Because we teach for the American Heart Association, we are bound to certain instructor to student ratios for each class. We cannot exceed these limits set for us. You are, however, welcome to be placed on the waiting list, if one is in place, to be considered for a spot in case there is a cancellation.

Q: When will you being holding your next CPR class?

A: All the current dates on the CPR page are as up to date as possible. The CPR page is updated each time there is any change to the scheduling. If there are no classes posted, they will be as soon as they are determined.

Q: Why does it take a little while to announce classes?

A: Scheduling CPR classes requires collaboration between the university for facilities, and the instructors and TAs. This process takes time, but classes are posted promptly.

Q: When will you announce your CPR class schedule?

A: We don't know. Unfortunately, because we have to go through the university to get facilities, they may take as long as they want to get back to us. It normally takes days or even weeks for them to process our requests.  Please be patient and check back on our website for updates.

Q: Do you offer a recertification class?

A: All our classes normally have a mix of people recertifying and people taking the initial course. The curriculum for AHA BLS does not change depending on if you are already certified. Plus, we have found that in two years, some may have forgotten some of the specifics. So, we have to cover everything in the pre-set curriculum anyway. We also keep the price of our class consistent, regardless of previous certification, because we feel that our price is very competitive, and is in fact the lowest in the area, in order to provide a service to the NU community.

Q: What should I bring to the class?

A: A pen or pencil and any materials your instructor has sent.

Q: What should I wear to class?

A: Please wear comfortable clothing that will allow you to do physical activity, like CPR.

Q: Can I be put on a waiting list?

A: Most of our classes fill up quickly in advance. We try put out more classes and try not to utilize waiting lists, unless there is a very high demand for classes. If a waiting list is in use, a link will be provided on the main CPR page. Waiting lists are formed on a first come, first serve basis and does not guarantee a place in the class.

Q: Is there parking?

A: Northeastern does offer guest parking. As a student group we cannot offer parking. For more information about parking at Northeastern, please visit their website: http://www.northeastern.edu/parking/guestparking/index.html.

Q: My question wasn't answered here. Who can I contact to address my question?

A: Please feel free to e-mail us a NUEMSeducation@gmail.com with any questions or concerns.
